VANNEYRA CHUM AWARDED NECC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Regis College’s Vanneyra Chum (Lowell, Mass.) was named the NECC Rookie of the Week for women’s tennis, it was announced on Monday afternoon. Chum nabbed two points for the Pride in its 5-4 setback to Mount Ida College.

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College’s Vanneyra Chum (Lowell, Mass.) was named the NECC Rookie of the Week for women’s tennis, it was announced on Monday afternoon. Chum nabbed two points for the Pride in its 5-4 setback to Mount Ida College.

In her first college match, Chum was victorious in both of her flights, picking up a 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (9-7) win in number four singles. She also teamed with Erika Palmer (Southborough, Mass.) to post Regis’ only doubles win of the day, defeating Melissa Smith and Loni Klimbach, 8-4.

The Crimson and Gold return to action on Wednesday afternoon as the Pride travel to Quincy, Mass. for a 3:30 p.m. with Eastern Nazarene.
