Welcome to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
What is SAAC?
A student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC) is a committee made up of student-athletes assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. The SAAC also offers input on the rules, regulations and polices that affect student-athletes' lives on NCAA member institution campuses.
NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Mission Statement
"The mission of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare and fostering a positive student-athlete image."
How do I become a member of SAAC?
Becoming a member of SAAC is as simple as attending its bi-monthly meetings. Any number of student-athletes from a team are able to attend, and are encouraged to do so. SAAC has the potential to make changes that directly effect the student-athletes’.

Torie Pappas (President) is a sophomore field hockey player that has done an excellent job serving as the committee’s figurehead. Pappas has been instrumental in coordinating the college’s homecoming festivities, LiveStrong Day, and served the athletics department as a representative at the 2010 NCAA Student Leadership Conference.
Maria Mendes (Vice President) is a four-year player for the field hockey team, and recently stepped into the role as VP for SAAC. Serving as vice president, Mendes has help orchestrate various service projects for SAAC, including its annual Red Cross blood drive.
Rachel Cavella (Treasurer) is a junior softball player, but has also been a member of the soccer team. Cavella has the last say on what initiatives are “budget friendly.” She also handles public relations for SAAC when she is not overseeing the committee’s budget, or approving the use of its funds.
Stefanie Wozmak (Secretary) is a second-year guard for the women’s basketball team. “Woz” is without the question the spark of the executive board, and quite often comes up with some of the best ideas for projects. She will be an important member of SAAC during her tenure, and the committee looks forward to her ideas.
