PRIDE TO PLAY IN PARK LODGE TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP
Weston, Mass.Regis College (3-4) will play in the championship game of the Park Lodge Tournament Saturday at 3 PM after defeating Westfield State College (5-4) 69-58 Friday evening.

Ta’Keame Gomes (Cambridge, Mass.) led all-scorers with 21 points for Regis College. Gomes tallied 17 points in the second half. He went 7-of-13 from the field, 2-of-4 from behind the arc, and 5-of-6 at the free throw line in 33 minutes.
Two other Pride members would finish in double digits. Senior Jesse Vega (Pawtucket, R.I.) and junior Derrick Neal (Boston, Mass.) both finished with 11 points.
Westfield State had two players in double digits Friday night. Charlie Rucker (Lynn, Mass.) led all Owls with 17 points in 26 minutes. Rucker was .500 (7-of-14) from the field. Teammate Matt Devine (Pembroke, Mass.) contributed the games only double-double, tallying 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The two teams were statistically equal in both halves of play. Westfield shot slightly better for the game, shooting 44 percent on 22-of-50 shooting. Regis shot 43 percent on 23-of-55 shooting.
The Pride edged the Owls from behind the three-point line. Regis knocked down eight three’s in the game; Westfield State missed all six of its attempts.
Regis took its largest lead of the night when Neal hit a three-pointer with 2-minutes, 24-seconds remaining in the game to lift the Pride ahead by 13.
Westfield State forced two lead changes in the game. Each teams bench seemed to breath life into the offense.
The Regis College had more than double the points that the Westfield State bench contributed. In the game Westfield State’s bench added 15 points, to Regis’ 32 points.
With the loss, Westfield State will play Gwynedd-Mercy College at 1:00 pm in the Park Lodge Tournament consolation game. Regis College will host WPI at 3:00 pm. WPI defeated Gwynedd-Mercy in double overtime 89-84 Friday.
