"We beat Lesley's pressure," said Nate Hager, head coach for Regis College. Lesley went to a full-court press midway through the first half, limiting Regis to just 32 first half points.
The teams battled point-for-point through much of the first period. Bryant Itonyo (Medford, Mass.) led the Lynx with nine points in the first period on 3-of-5 shooting, all three pointers. Jermaine Harris (Haverill, Mass.) led all Lesley scorers with 11 points, 5-of-6 from the floor.
"We wanted to limit their dribble penetration," said Hager. The Pride limited Jesus Trejo (Methuen, Mass.) to just seven points and two rebounds on the night. Lesley had just 22 rebounds on the night.
Regis College had 44 total rebounds. Phil Alibrandi (York, Maine) led the way with 11 total rebounds. Alibrandi and Derrick Neal (Boston, Mass.) had a game high with 13 points each.
Three Pride players tallied double figures, with four within a shot of also having double-digits. "We did a good job of sharing the ball," Hager remarked. Regis had 17 team assists to seven Lesley assists.
Senior James Cooper (Philadelphia, Pa.) had seven assists in 22 minutes for Regis. He also had eight points on 66 percent shooting. Ndubisi Ezeigwe (Brockton, Mass.) contributed 12 points in 19 minutes.
"He (Ndubisi) played very well for us tonight," Hager responded. Ezeigwe was 5-of-6 from the floor, and 2-of-2 from the free throw line.
Regis shot better than 56 percent in the second half to Lesley's 36 percent. The Pride will head to Chester, Pa. to take on Rowan in the Oki Data Americas Tournament Friday, Nov. 20.
