FALL SPORTS BEGIN REGULAR SEASON PREPARATION
WESTON, Mass.With preseason practice having started a week ago, four of Regis fall sports are preparing to start its regular season this week. Mens and womens soccer, womens volleyball, and womens tennis will begin regular season play before Labor Day weekend.
WESTON, Mass.—With preseason practice having started a week ago, four of Regis’ fall sports are preparing to start its regular season this week. Men’s and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, and women’s tennis will begin regular season play before Labor Day weekend.
Women’s volleyball will host its annual Pride Invitational September 4 and 5. Hosting six other teams, the Pride will hope to return to the conference postseason at the end of year. Albeit a long way from now, this team will play and practice as if it were just a game away.
Women’s soccer will be the first to start the 2010 season when it travels to Lyndon State Sept. 1. Fans will get their first glimpse of the women’s soccer team under first-year head coach Liz Conant on Saturday, Sept. 4 when the team hosts Southern Vermont at 2:00 p.m.
Regis College women’s tennis will host back-to-back contests on Sept. 2-3 when it takes Becker (Sept. 2) and Suffolk (Sept. 3). Matches are set for 4 pm and 1 pm respectively.
Men’s soccer will travel to Rivier on Sept. 3 to play the Raiders in a 7 p.m. match. The Pride’s first two matches are on the road, and back-to-back. On Sept. 4 Regis will play Wheelock at 2:30 p.m. Head coach Jon Keefe will have the Pride team playing its first match at home Sept. 6 versus Emerson at noon.
Field hockey opens its preseason Sunday, Aug. 29 in preparation for its first home match. The Pride will open with a scrimmage against Simmons (Sept. 6), with its first regular season match versus Elms (Sept. 8). The scrimmage and game will start at 4 p.m.
