Charest and Nangle Earn Top Honors at Annual Athletic Awards Ceremony
WESTON, Mass. — The Regis College athletics department hosted its annual awards banquet at the Fine Arts Center on the final Friday of April, celebrating the accomplishments of its student-athletes, teams, and programs throughout the 2025-26 academic year. The evening honored excellence in athletics, academics, leadership, and service through a variety of department and SAAC awards.
Regis-Casserly Award
The Regis-Casserly Award, the department's highest honor, is presented annually to the top graduating male and female student-athletes who demonstrate excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, and service.
Jonnie Charest, an Honors Program student and seven-time Dean's List honoree, graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with minors in Criminal Justice and Business Management. A captain of the cross country and track & field programs, she earned two GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team selections and finished her career with a personal-best performance at the New England Regionals. Beyond athletics, Charest served as an orientation leader, campus tour guide, and communications coordinator for The Hidden Opponent while completing more than 500 hours of community service.
John Nangle, a Biomedical Engineering major with a 3.988 GPA, balanced academic excellence with internships and research opportunities at Moderna, Ultragenyx, and New England Biolabs. A captain of the men's volleyball team and GNAC Sportsmanship Team representative, he finished his career as the program's all-time leader in matches played while ranking among the top five in several statistical categories. He also contributed to campus life as a resident assistant, tutor, and mentor while volunteering in the community.

Outstanding Senior Student-Athlete Awards
Justin Thuotte and Madi Zancan received the Outstanding Senior Student-Athlete Awards after historic careers in their respective programs.
Thuotte established himself as one of the top athletes in Regis track & field history as a 21-time All-Conference honoree and 12-time GNAC champion. A three-time GNAC Field Athlete of the Year and two-time All-Region performer, he currently holds multiple indoor and outdoor program records. This also marked the fourth consecutive season Thuotte earned his class Student-Athlete of the Year honor.
Zancan delivered one of the most dominant seasons in women's basketball program history, averaging 20.7 points and 11.8 rebounds per game while leading the GNAC in scoring. She set single-season program records for total points and scoring average, highlighted by a 50-point performance against Alma and a National Player of the Week nod. A four-time All-GNAC selection and the 2025-26 GNAC Player of the Year, she finished her career second all-time in program history with 1,766 points while also producing a standout season for the softball program.
Senior Scholar-Athlete Awards
William Comeiro and Isa Mullen earned Senior Scholar-Athlete honors for their excellence in both academics and athletics.
Comeiro, a Biology major on the pre-med track and the Class of 2026 valedictorian, graduated with a perfect 4.00 GPA while competing in 65 career matches for the men's volleyball program.
Mullen, a three-year member of the women's soccer program, graduated in just three years with a Business Management degree and a 4.00 GPA. She helped anchor a defense that recorded nine shutouts this season.
Judith W. Burling Team Award for Academic Excellence
Presented annually to the varsity team with the highest weighted cumulative GPA, the award honors the legacy of longtime Regis Director of Athletics Dr. Judy Burling and recognizes excellence in academics across the department with this year's recipients being the women's cross country team who posted a 3.71 GPA.
Jason Behenna Legacy Award
The Jason Behenna Legacy Award, named in honor of former beloved Sports Information Director Jason Behenna, recognizes his embodiment of what it means to be a member of the Pride through his unwavering support and dedication to Regis student-athletes and programs. The award is selected by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and was presented to Director of Athletics Meghan Foley.
Reggie Awards
- Best Comeback Win — Women's Soccer vs. Elms
- Record-Breaking Performance — Madi Zancan for setting the single-season and single-game scoring records
- Best Upset — Women's Volleyball for its GNAC playoff run, defeating the No. 4 and No. 1 seeds on the road to advance to the GNAC Championship match
- Best Playoff Victory — Women's Soccer for its 2-0 road victory at Albertus Magnus to advance to the GNAC Semifinals
- Best Overtime Win — Women's Volleyball for its comeback victory over Rivier to open GNAC Tournament play
- Most Supportive Team — Men's Volleyball
