Softball Season Comes to an End with Loss on Day Two of GNAC Pod Play
BRIGHTON, Mass. — The Regis College softball season came to an end on Day Two of Great Northeast Athletic Conference postseason pod play, as the No. 3 South seed Pride fell to No. 4 North Emmanuel College, 9-0. Regis concludes the 2026 season with a 13-23 overall record and a 9-9 mark in GNAC play.
Mel Rees accounted for both of the Pride's hits in the game. Kate Julian earned the start in the circle, pitching five innings and striking out two in the effort.
Emmanuel was led offensively by Emely Rodriguez and Mia Fernandes, who each went 3-for-4 at the plate, combining for four RBIs. In the circle, Carmen Crockett earned the win, striking out a career-best 16 batters en route to the shutout.
How it Happened
In the top of the second, with two runners on, Emely Rodriguez delivered a two-run single to left to bring around the game's first runs for the Saints. Emmanuel then worked a series of walks to load the bases, but the Pride defense limited the damage with two heads-up plays at the plate and a groundout to end the inning, holding the frame to just two runs.
Crockett was dominant early, striking out 10 of the first 11 batters she faced before Rees broke through with a well-struck hit to right center in the top of the fourth. Crockett quickly responded, striking out the next two hitters to keep the Pride off the board.
The Saints extended their lead in the fifth with an RBI double and a sacrifice fly to make it 4-0 after five innings. Then an inning later, the Saints broke the game open, as a leadoff triple sparked a five-run inning highlighted by a pair of RBI doubles that put Emmanuel ahead, 9-0.
Rees picked up her second hit of the game in the home half of the sixth, but it was not enough as Crockett and the Saints defense remained in control stranding her once again to secure a 9–0 victory and advance to face the University of Saint Joseph in their second elimination game of the day.
