How It Happened
Regis took control late to win the opening set 25–21 in a tightly contested battle early on. Emmanuel got off to a solid start including an ace to give them a brief lead. The teams traded points through the middle of the set, but the Pride leaned on strong play from Evan Shank, John Nangle, and Brandon Valdes to build separation. A late Regis run, with kills from Valdes and Nangle along with an ace from Adam Bonica, allowed them to close out the set.
Regis carried momentum into the second set, jumping out to a dominant 5–0 lead and eventually extending it to 8–3 behind efficient offense. Emmanuel responded with a mid-set push, as they chipped away at the deficit. Late in the set, Emmanuel surged, tying it at 20–20 and then trading points down the stretch. Clutch plays from Guest and Barcelos, along with a key block, helped Emmanuel complete the comeback and steal the set 25–23.
Emmanuel built on that momentum in the third set, using a decisive service run from Trey Guest to turn a tight contest into a multi-point lead. Although Regis stayed within striking distance thanks to Valdes and Bonica, Emmanuel maintained control late. Guest and Branconier delivered in key moments as Emmanuel secured the set 25–22.
Regis came out strong in the fourth set, jumping to an early lead and maintaining pressure throughout much of the frame. The Saints gradually battled back, leading a late push that erased the deficit and gave them a narrow advantage at 24–22.
