Hammon Sets Single-Game Saves Record in Setback to Lasell
WESTON, Mass— The Regis men's lacrosse team was home for a weekend matinee against cross-town opponent Lasell. Although the Pride worked to stay in it, the Lasers would come out on top. With the loss, Regis' record falls to 5-7 on the year and 4-6 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play.
Jack Jaynes and Luke Meelia led the way for the Pride tallying four and three goals, respectively, while each adding a helper. In net, Devin Hammon made a record-breaking 32 saves in the effort.
Jack Condon had four goals and two assists en route to his team's victory.
How it Happened
Lasell came out firing in the first half, controlling possession and building a quick 3-0 lead. Nate Campbell opened the scoring for the Lasers, as they consistently applied pressure on the offensive end. Regis goalkeeper Devin Hammon kept the Pride within reach with several key saves, and the Pride offense eventually found its rhythm midway through the half. Luke Meelia got Regis on the board, sparking a late surge that saw goals from Ian Brown and Jack Jaynes cut the deficit to one. However, Lasell answered in the final seconds with a Matthew Carbone goal to take a 11-6 lead into halftime.
Regis brought energy into the second half, with a back-and-forth battle that shifted dramatically following a series of penalties, as Lasell capitalized on multiple man-up opportunities to regain control. Jack Condon and Ryan Haden each scored with the extra man, igniting a decisive run that extended the lead. Despite continued saves from Hammon and a late push from Regis, Lasell maintained its offensive efficiency, adding key goals down the stretch from Vogel, Campbell, and others. Regis showed resilience with late scores, including a man-up goal from Jaynes, but Lasell's depth and execution secured a 17-12 victory.
