Kirk Leads Way as Women's Track and Field Open GNAC Championships in Standish
STANDISH, Maine -- The Regis College Pride women's track and field team traveled to Saint Joseph's College of Maine for day one of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships.
At the conclusion of day one, the Pride sit in fifth place overall with 14 points. Host Saint Joseph's College of Maine leads the standings with 66 points, followed by Colby-Sawyer College in second with 44 points and Emmanuel College in third with 41 points. Lasell University sits in fourth with 17 points, while Simmons University rounds out the standings in sixth with 3 points.
Inside the Numbers:
- Zoe Kirk headlined the opening day for the Pride, earning a runner-up finish in the high jump with a clearance of 1.51 meters, further improving upon her own program record set earlier this season at the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational.
- Kirk continued her strong performance in the 100-meter hurdles prelims, posting the fastest qualifying time into tomorrow's finals with a personal-best 15.81, lowering her second-best mark in program history.
- In the 100-meter dash prelims, Lily Griffin finished seventh overall in 13.49 seconds, placing second in her heat. She was closely followed by her sister Hannah Griffin, who placed eighth overall in a personal-best 13.55 seconds, improving her time by .05 seconds. Both qualified for the finals, along with senior Olivia Dench, who clocked in at 13.64 seconds.
- In the field, Lily Sedam finished just outside the podium in fourth place in the discus with a personal-best throw of 30.34 meters, moving her just outside the program's top five. Sophia Anderson also added valuable points with a fifth-place finish in the long jump, recording a personal-best mark of 4.85 meters.
The Pride return to action tomorrow at Saint Joseph's College of Maine for Day Two of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships.
