WOMEN'S TENNIS GRABS PAIR OF NECC AWARDS
Regis College sophomore women’s tennis player Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) has been named this week’s New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday morning. Lord was joined on the weekly honor roll by Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.), who was named the NECC Rookie of the Week.
WESTON, Mass. – Regis College sophomore women's tennis player Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) has been named this week's New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday morning. Lord was joined on the weekly honor roll by Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.), who was named the NECC Rookie of the Week.
Lord and DiPace helped lead the Pride (1-0) to their first win of the year with an 8-1 victory over Eastern Nazarene College last Thursday.
Jessie Lord teamed with Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) to post an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Lord then moved onto singles play, where she defeated ENC's Jordan Cressman in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3 singles.
DiPace recorded her first collegiate win with a 6-0, 6-2 win over the Lions' Bethany Mohnkern at No. 6 singles as a part of the Pride's 8-1 victory.
Regis returns to action on Tuesday, September 9, when the Pride travel to Becker College to open up NECC conference play in a match scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
