PRIDE UNANIMOUSLY CHOSEN AS PRESEASON FAVORITES
The Regis College women’s tennis team was unanimously chosen to finish first as the 2014 New England Collegiate Conference women’s tennis preseason polls were announced Tuesday night.
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Regis College women's tennis team was unanimously chosen to finish first as the 2014 New England Collegiate Conference women's tennis preseason polls were announced Tuesday night.
Regis, the back to back NECC champions, who are managed by reigning United States Professional Tennis Association's New England Division College Coach of the Year John Ciarleglio look to capture a third straight conference title. Five of the six starters from the 2013 season are returning for the Pride including junior Jewel Medeiros (Rochester, Mass.) who received numerous accolades last season such as All-NECC First Team in singles and double play and earning All-Tournament Team honors as well.
Medeiros' doubles partner, sophomore Jessie Lord (Fall River, Mass.) also looks to build on her strong rookie campaign after earning All First Team doubles honors and being named to the All-NECC Second Team in singles play. Medeiros and Lord are also joined by the 2013 NECC Rookie of the Year Emily Rice (Pittsfield, Mass.) who returns for her sophomore season.
Rounding out the polls are Bay Path University who received 27 points and the second spot, Becker earned the third overall ranking with 24 points. Lesley received the fourth ranking with 20 points. Mitchell earned 13 points and the fifth spot and rounding out the polls is Newbury who earned six points.
