WOMEN'S SOCCER 2014 SCHEDULE RELEASED
The Regis College women's soccer team recently released their 2014 game schedule, which will feature nine home games and eight non-conference opponents.
WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's soccer team recently released their 2014 game schedule, which will feature nine home games and eight non-conference opponents. The Pride, who wrapped up last season with a 10-7-2 record, will be looking for their fourth-straight New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Tournament berth.
Regis opens up the season on August 30 with a non-conference game on the road at MCLA before returning to Weston for a home-opener against New England College on September 3. The Pride blanked the Pilgrims, 3-0 a season ago.
After hitting the road for a non-league game against Mount Ida on September 6, Regis will welcome Wellesley College (September 13), Eastern Nazarene (September 16), St. Joseph (Conn.) (September 23), and Elms (September 27) for four consecutive games on the home pitch. The Pride fell to all four of these teams last season and will be looking to avenge these losses on home turf.
Four days after hosting the Blazers in what will be their first NECC game of the year, Regis will begin their longest stretch on the road with four straight away games against Thomas (October 1), Bay Path (October 4), Emerson (October 7), and Mitchell (October 11). A year ago, the Crimson and Gold blanked both Thomas and Mitchell by the scores of 1-0 and 3-0, respectively, but tied Bay Path 2-2 and dropped a 1-0 decision to Emerson.
The Pride will return home for an October 13 league game against Daniel Webster, a team they beat 2-0 in 2013, before returning to action with back-to-back away games at Lesley on October 18 and Wheelock on October 21. Regis dropped a pair of heart-breakers against the Lynx last season, including a 1-0 overtime loss in the regular season and a 2-1 loss in the NECC Semifinals after a 90th minute goal, but handled the Wildcats easily with a 5-0 victory.
Regis closes out the regular season with three NECC games at home on October 25, October 29, and November 1 when the Pride will host Becker, Newbury, and Southern Vermont, respectively. Regis had a 4-0 record against these opponents last year after collectively outscoring them, 11-1, which included a 2-1 win over the Mountaineers in the NECC First Round.
The NECC playoffs will kick off with the Quarterfinals on November 4. The NECC Semifinals are scheduled for November 6 and the Championship is slated for November 8.
