Women's Lacrosse Win Big In Regular Season Finale
New Haven, Conn. -- The Pride women's lacrosse team was on the road tonight taking on Albertus Magnus in their final regular season matchup of the season. The Pride would take it to the Falcons early and never looking back. With the win, the Prides record improves to 4-10 and 4-9 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play.
Serenity Ayala was on point tonight with seven goals and two assists while also adding four draw controls.
For Albertus, Tiffanie Ly and Alexys Signor would each notch a goal.
How It Happened
Regis controlled the entire first half from the opening draw, overwhelming Albertus with possession. Despite a strong early stretch from Albertus goalie Victoria McDermott, Regis kept generating chances until Serenity Ayala finally broke through at 9:41. That goal opened the floodgates: Ayala scored again less than a minute later, completed a first‑quarter hat trick at 6:39, and assisted a man‑up finish by Bella Marini to push the lead to 4–0. Molly Higgins added a late goal off an Audrey Mason feed, giving Regis a commanding 5–0 lead after one. The second quarter followed the same script. Teal Galligan scored just 31 seconds in on a man‑up opportunity, and Ayala added another shortly after to make it 7–0. McDermott continued to stand tall for Albertus with several more saves but Regis' ride and midfield pressure kept the Falcons pinned in their defensive end. Higgins scored twice in the quarter, including a man‑up finish assisted by Sainato, while Ayala added her fifth of the half at 2:43. Albertus generated a few late looks but couldn't convert, and Regis entered halftime firmly in control, leading 10–0.
Albertus finally broke onto the scoreboard early in the third when Tiffanie Ly scored off a feed from Delaney Schlechtweg, but Regis immediately answered with goals from Margo Gurney and Molly Higgins to restore their double‑digit lead. The Pride's defense continued to dictate the pace, forcing turnovers on clears and limiting Albertus to rushed or wide attempts. After a series of saves by McDermott kept the score from climbing even faster, Regis capitalized on a man‑up chance when Anna Theriault scored off an Ayala assist. Albertus added a second goal at 3:31, but Ayala responded again late, sending Regis into the final quarter up 14–2. The fourth quarter featured strong goaltending on both sides, with McDermott and Mazo trading early saves. Regis' offense soon reignited: Sainato scored at 12:10, Emerson Adams added another at the 10‑minute mark, and Ayala buried a free‑position shot for her sixth goal of the game. Albertus continued to struggle with turnovers and cards, while Regis maintained control through clean clears and ground‑ball wins. Albertus found one late highlight when Alexys Signor scored off a Schlechtweg assist with just over a minute remaining, but Regis closed out the game smoothly, securing a dominant 17–3 victory.
