Women's Lacrosse Falls To Simmons In Season Opener

Despite the loss, Audrey Mason would lead the Pride's offense with two goals and one assist, while on the defensive side picking up two caused turnovers.
For the Sharks Lauren Krupnikoff would be the star of the game providing three goals and four assists.
How It Happened
Simmons came out strong in the opening quarter and quickly established control. After both teams traded early possessions, the Sharks broke through at the 11:11 mark when Leah Finn scored the first goal of the game off an assist from Lauren Krupnikoff. Simmons continued to build momentum as Krupnikoff added a goal of her own before Finn struck again, once more assisted by Krupnikoff, to make it 3–0 midway through the period. Krupnikoff later added her second goal of the quarter to extend the lead to 4–0. Despite several strong saves from Regis goalkeeper Daniela Mazo, Simmons' offense controlled the pace and finished the quarter with a four-goal advantage.
The second quarter slowed down offensively as both teams battled through turnovers and defensive stops. Regis began to settle in defensively behind Mazo, who continued to make key saves to keep the Pride within reach. However, Simmons eventually found the net late in the quarter when Lauren Krupnikoff converted on a free-position attempt with just over a minute remaining. The goal pushed the Sharks' lead to 5–0 heading into halftime as Simmons maintained possession advantage.
Simmons extended its lead early in the third quarter when Bridget McNamara scored off an assist from Lily Haynes to make it 6–0. Regis answered shortly after when Audrey Mason got the Pride on the board with an unassisted goal. Simmons quickly responded to stretch the lead to 8–1. Mason added another goal for the Pride later in the quarter off a feed from Molly Higgins, but Simmons carried an 8–2 lead into the final period.
The Sharks continued to pull away in the fourth quarter, starting with an early goal before Leah Finn added another to push the score to 10–2. Regis briefly halted the run when Serenity Ayala scored midway through the period, but Simmons answered with three more goals to extend the lead to 13–3. Regis managed the final goal of the game with 14 seconds remaining as Maddie Sainato scored off an assist from Mason as this game would finish 13-4
