Zancan Becomes First in Program History Named to D3hoops.com Region One First Team
WESTON, Mass. — Madi Zancan of the Regis College women's basketball has been selected to the D3hoops.com Region I First Team, becoming the first player in program history to earn First Team All-Region honors. Zancan was also the lone representative from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference on the First Team, joining standouts from nationally ranked No. 14 Bates College women's basketball and No. 8 Bowdoin College women's basketball of the New England Small College Athletic Conference.
With the selection, Zancan becomes the first player in the history of the Regis women's basketball program to be named to the D3hoops.com Region I First Team and just the third player in program history to earn All-Region recognition from the organization. She joins Pam Gonzalez, who earned Region I Third Team honors in 2021–22 and 2022–23, and Brittney Stone, who was recognized as Fourth Team All-Northeast in 2017–18 and Second Team All-Region in 2015–16.
Zancan was no stranger to D3hoops.com during the season, becoming just the second player in program history to be named to the organization's Team of the Week after a dominant stretch in which she averaged 29.5 points, 20.0 rebounds, and 5.0 steals per game while leading Regis to a pair of conference victories. During that span, Zancan shot 60.5 percent from the field and 92.9 percent from the free-throw line, totaling 59 points and 40 rebounds across two starts. Her performance that week also earned her the program's first-ever national recognition from the United States Basketball Writers Association, as she was named the USBWA Division III National Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Zancan put together one of the most dominant seasons in program and conference history in 2025–26. She appeared in 26 games with 22 starts and averaged 20.7 points per game, totaling 538 points. Her scoring average ranked first in the GNAC and eighth nationally, while establishing new single-season program records for both total points and points per game. She shot an efficient 52.1 percent from the field (185-for-355) and 78.0 percent from the free-throw line (167-for-214), consistently attacking the rim and converting through contact.
Zancan scored in double figures in 25 of 26 contests, including 10 games of 20 or more points and four 30-point performances. Her season was highlighted by a program-record 50-point outing (19-27 FG) against Alma College women's basketball in December.
Equally impactful on the glass, Zancan averaged 11.8 rebounds per game and recorded 17 double-doubles, the third-most in the GNAC. Her rare combination of efficiency, physicality, and high-volume production made her one of the most difficult matchups in the conference all season.
In addition to leading the GNAC in total points and points per game, she also ranked first in free throws made. Beyond her scoring and rebounding, Zancan contributed 45 assists, 75 steals, and 24 blocks, demonstrating her ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor.
In a pivotal midseason matchup against Norwich University women's basketball - a game that ultimately positioned Regis ahead in the standings - Zancan delivered one of her most dominant performances of the year, exploding for 32 points and 20 rebounds in an 82–77 victory. She also rose to the occasion against the conference's top team, Emmanuel College women's basketball, recording 27 points and 12 rebounds to further demonstrate her ability to perform at an elite level in the biggest moments.
Earlier in the season, Zancan showcased her ability to compete against the best in the nation in a non-conference matchup against reigning national champion NYU Violets women's basketball, finishing with 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting while adding seven rebounds.
Zancan's 2025–26 campaign capped an outstanding career in which she finished second all-time in program history with 1,766 points, third in career scoring average (17.1 ppg), fifth in rebounds (912), and fourth in blocks (126). She earned All-GNAC First Team honors for the first time this season and was named GNAC Player of the Year, becoming the first Player of the Year in the program's GNAC era.
