Zancan Headlines GNAC Postseason Honors with Player of the Year Recognition
WESTON, Mass. – As voted on by the coaches of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, Madi Zancan has been named Player of the Year and earned First Team All-Conference honors following a historic 2025–26 campaign that solidified her as the premier player in the conference and one of the top performers in the region. Fellow senior Jordyn Striggles also received conference recognition, earning a spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Zancan appeared in 26 games, making 22 starts, and averaged 20.7 points per game for a total of 538 points. Her scoring output ranked first in the GNAC and eighth nationally, while also setting single-season program records for both total points and points per game. She shot an efficient 52.1 percent from the field (185-for-355) and 78.0 percent from the free-throw line (167-for-214), consistently attacking the basket and finishing through contact. Zancan scored in double figures in 25 of 26 games, including 10 performances of 20 or more points and four of 30 or more. Her season was highlighted by a record-breaking 50-point effort in an overtime loss to Alma in December.
She was equally dominant on the glass, she recorded 17 double-doubles while averaging 11.8 rebounds per game - the third-most in the GNAC. Her combination of efficiency and high-volume production made her one of the most difficult matchups in the league all season.
In addition to leading the GNAC in total points and points per game, Zancan also ranked first in free throws made, showcasing her ability to pair scoring with efficiency and all-around impact. Beyond her scoring and rebounding, she added 45 assists, 75 steals, and 24 blocks, further underscoring her versatility and defensive presence. Her ability to affect the game on both ends of the floor separated her as one of the conference's premier players throughout the season.
Her dominance earned recognition at the conference, regional, and national levels. Zancan was a five-time GNAC Player of the Week (Nov. 17, Dec. 7, Dec. 22, Jan. 19, Feb. 2), earned four New Enland Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Weekly Honor Roll selections (Dec. 7, Jan. 6, Jan. 21, Feb. 10), and was named NEWBA Player of the Week on Feb. 3. On the national stage, she was selected to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week and earned United States Basketball Writers Association Division III National Player of the Week honors on Feb. 3 - a first for a member of the Regis women's basketball program.
Zancan's 2025–26 season capped off an outstanding career in which she finished second all-time in program history in total points with 1,766, third in career points per game (17.1), third in career field goal percentage (38.9%), tied for fifth in career free throw percentage (76.3%), fifth in career rebounds (912), and fourth in career blocks (126). This marks her fourth All-GNAC nod and first first appearance on the First Team while her Player of the Year honor is her second major career award, joining her GNAC Rookie of the Year recognition from her freshman season. It also marks the first Player of the Year in the Pride's GNAC era, the last Player of the Year from the program came from Brittany Stone in the 2016-17 season from the New England Collegiate Conference.
Senior captain Jordyn Striggles represented the Pride on the All-Sportsmanship Team, exemplifying leadership both on and off the court. As a four-year starter, she has set the standard with her passion, accountability, and tireless work ethic, always encouraging teammates and helping shape the culture of the program. Along with her leadership, she left a lasting mark on the court, starting all 103 games of her career and finishing as the program's all-time leader in three-pointers made with 175. She has also been a strong presence in the community, helping propose and plan the Pride's Black History Month games this past February, serving as a role model through her dedication, positivity, and commitment to making everyone around her better. This honors marks the first postseason accolade of Striggles' career.
