WESTON, Mass. – For the third time this season, freshman Amanda Hawkesworth (Abington, Mass.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league's offices on Monday. Hawkesworth averaged 11.3 points and 11.3 rebounds over three games this past week.
She recorded a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds, as well as dished out three assists, in a 69-58 win over Clark (Mass.) last Monday. The freshman forward followed that up with seven points, ten rebounds, and two assists in a loss to Catholic in the CUA-Fairfield Inn Washington D.C. Holiday Tournament Championship on Tuesday. For her efforts, Hawkesworth was named to the All-Tournament Team. Hawkesworth closed out the week with 13 points, nine rebounds, and two assists in a loss to #7 Tufts on Saturday.
Through ten games this season, Hawkesworth is currently averaging 13.3 points per game and a team-best 9.6 rebounds per game. She and the rest of the Pride (6-4, 3-0 NECC) return to action tomorrow with an 8 p.m. game at Bay Path College.
