WESTON, Mass. – First-year Head Coach Angela Santa Fe is excited to announce the 2013-14 game schedule for the Regis College women's basketball team, which will feature 13 home games and seven non-conference opponents. The Pride are one season removed from having won the program's first New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship and made their first appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament since the 1995-96 season. They return four starters from last year's squad, highlighted by NECC All-Conference Team members Emilee Marro (Bedford, N.H.) and Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine).
Regis opens up the season by hosting the Regis College Invitational on Nov. 16 and 17, when they will welcome Sage, MIT, and Suffolk. The Pride will play the tournament-opener against Sage at 12 p.m. on Saturday, while MIT and Suffolk will square off in the second game at 2 p.m. The winners of each game will meet in the Championship at 3 p.m. on Sunday, while the Consolation Game will take place at 1 p.m.
The team will wrap up the month of November by making a trip up to Waterville, Maine to face Colby at 6 p.m. Last season, the Mules narrowly escaped with a 57-52 victory over Regis.
A 6 p.m. home game against Lesley on Dec. 3 marks the NECC opener for the Pride, who have gone an impressive 36-0 in regular season league play since joining the conference in 2011. Just two days later, Regis will also play host to Becker at 6 p.m. before traveling to Southern Vermont on the 7th for a 1 p.m. affair.
On Dec. 15, Regis will welcome Western Connecticut State for a 1 p.m. non-conference game. Last season, the Pride trailed by as much as 13 points but came back and defeated the Colonials, 66-61.
Regis will cap off December at the Catholic University Courtyard US Capital Holiday Tournament on the 30th and 31st. The Crimson & Gold open the tournament against Clark (Mass.) at 4 p.m. on Monday and will hope to face the winner of Catholic and Kings in the Championship game at 4 p.m. the next day.
The final non-conference game of the season will take place on Jan. 4 against Tufts. The Pride will be looking to avenge last year's loss to the Jumbos, who made it all the way to the NCAA Third Round a season ago and finished the year with a 27-3 record.
On Jan. 7, Regis will face Bay Path on the road before hosting Elms two days later in what will be a rematch of last season's NECC Championship game. On the 11th, the Pride will be away at Newbury before hosting Wheelock and Southern Vermont on Jan. 14 and 16, respectively.
The team's second game against Becker will be away on the 18th, while their first game with Daniel Webster will also be away on Jan. 21. The Eagles gave the Pride a scare in the NECC Semifinals last season, as they led with just over five minutes remaining, but Regis closed out the game with an 11-0 run to claim the victory.
The final home game of January is on the 25th against Bay Path. Three days later, the Pride will begin their longest stretch on the road with three consecutive away games against Lesley, Elms (Feb. 1), and Mitchell (Feb. 6).
On Feb. 8 and 12, Regis hosts consecutive home games against Newbury and Daniel Webster, respectively. On the 15th, the Pride will play their final NECC away game at Wheelock before closing out the regular season with Mitchell on Feb. 19.
The NECC playoffs will kick off with the First Round on Feb 25. The NECC Semifinals are scheduled for Feb. 28 and the Championship is slated for March 1.
