Weston, Mass.—Through the first half of the season the Regis College women’s basketball team has compiled a 6-3 record, with their most recent game being in the Park Lodge Tournament Championship. This early season success can be attributed to the Pride’s hard work and team play this season.
One of the major contributors to both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball has been senior Sarah McNult (Hampstead, N.H./Pinkerton). A strong performance in the Park Lodge Tournament against John Jay and Saint Lawrence helped McNult receive All-Tournament team honors. McNult has been a force in the paint for the Pride. She has crashed the boards 108 times this season ranking her first in The Commonwealth Coast Conference and eighth in NCAA DIII basketball.
McNult’s statistical feats do not stop there. Her six double-double performances this season rank her ninth in the nation. McNult’s career and season high of 20 rebounds versus Newbury College rank her 20th in the nation for most rebounds in a single game.
McNult will look to add to her season totals as the Pride continues with its season over winter break. The Pride’s next match-up is against the number four team in the nation, Kean University, who Regis will play on Jan. 2 at 1:00 p.m. This game will be a solid non-conference game for the Pride. The Cougars are currently ranked fifth in the nation for scoring offense, averaging 82.4 points per game and have not lost a game this season.
Angelica Bermudez (Jersey City, N.J./St. Anthony) currently leads the team in rebounds with 50 on the season. The battle on the boards between McNult and Bermudez should be a key matchup in the game. This match-up will be the second to last non-conference game for the Pride, as they finish up with Tufts University Thursday (Jan. 6). The Pride will start The Commonwealth Coast Conference play against Colby-Sawyer Friday (Jan. 8).
