CLAIRE RAMONAS NAMED TCCC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

WESTON, Mass.—The Commonwealth Coast Conference office announced Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine/Deering) of the Regis College women’s basketball team as its TCCC Rookie of the Week. The assistant commissioner made the announcement Monday morning via email.

Ramonas posted back-to-back games of 12 or more points, including a weekly high of 16 points. She was an asset in Regis’ 98-61 opening day win over John Jay in the Park Lodge Tournament. During the week, Ramonas shot better than 75 percent from the floor, helping to lead Regis College to a 2-1 weekly record.

In nine games she is averaging just shy of 10 points per game, and just short of double figures in rebounds. She is averaging at least a block per game, has 17 steals, and dished 11 assists.

The Regis College women’s basketball team will return to the floor January 2 in an away contest at Kean University, a 2009-10 NCAA Final Four qualifier.
