Pride Fall to Nichols and Husson in Winter Haven

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Regis College Softball dropped both games on their fifth day in Florida at the 2025 Spring Break Games. The Pride fell 12-4 to Nichols College, followed by an 11-1 loss to Husson University, bringing their season record to 2-6.

Regis vs. Nichols

• Lynsey Kay (Bellingham, Mass.) got the Pride on the board with a single down the right-field line, bringing Bianca Burke (Cambridge, Mass.) home for the game's first run.
• The Bison quickly responded in the bottom of the first, using four hits to score five runs and take a 5-1 lead.
• In the second inning, Grace Motto (Wareham, Mass.) scored on a passed ball, cutting the deficit to three. However, a triple by Allie Silliman in the bottom half of the inning highlighted a three-run outing, pushing the Bison's lead to 8-2.
• The Pride added a run in both the fourth and fifth innings, but the Bison answered each time—scoring one in the fourth and three more in the fifth—securing a 12-4 victory after five innings.

Regis vs. Husson

• Husson struck first with a solo home run to lead off the second inning, sparking a three-run frame for the Eagles.
• The next two innings turned into a defensive showdown, with the only hits coming from Burke and Francesca Licata, until the Eagles exploded in the top of the fifth with eight runs, taking a commanding 11-0 lead.
• In the fifth inning Abby Erikson (Worcester, Mass.) singled to right field, bringing Madi Zancan (Cumberland, R.I.) home for the Pride's first run. However, a routine play to the pitcher from the next batter sealed the game, with Husson winning 11-1.

Inside the Numbers:

• Mel Rees (Middleborough, Mass.) recorded her 100^th career strikeout during her five-strikeout performance in game two.
• Abby Erikson connected on her first collegiate hit for the crimson and gold with her single to right field against Husson.
• Bianca Burke recorded her second multi-hit game for the Pride in her three-hit outing in game two.

The Pride will wrap up their spring break trip tomorrow, Friday, March 14th, with a doubleheader at Hancock Park in Clermont, Fla. The first game will be against North Central (Ill.) at 2 p.m., followed by a matchup with Penn State New Kensington at 4:15 p.m.
