MCKINNON AND CASELLO EARN ALL-NECC HONORS

The Regis College softball had team had a pair of players named to the New England Collegiate Conference’s All-NECC Second Team in Alyssa McKinnon (Raynham, Mass.) and Jenna Casello (Westborough, Mass.). The duo helped lead the Pride (11-20) to within one game of the NECC Championship game this past weekend.

The Regis College softball team continued its run through the New England Collegiate Conference Tournament with a 6-2 victory over No. 3 Mitchell College on Friday afternoon. The Pride fell to top-seeded Lesley University, 8-1, in the final game of the day. Regis and Mitchell will meet again tomorrow afternoon at 12:00 p.m. to see who faces the Lynx in the Championship game.

The Lynx took an 8-2 decision to win game one while shortening game two with a score of 9-0 in five innings. The Lynx improve to 7-11 on the year and a perfect 6-0 in NECC play while the Pride fall to 3-12 overall and 3-5 in the conference.

Freshmen Rachel DesRochers (Westford, Mass.) and Rachel Tortora (Malden, Mass.) and sophomore Katie Cuozzo (Lynn, Mass.) combined to rap out 16 hits and knock in 19 runs to lead the Regis College softball team to a convincing doubleheader sweep over host Wheelock College, winning the first game, 20-0, and the nightcap, 26-3 today in New England Collegiate Conference action on the Regis campus.
