Cross Country, Track & Field Welcome 13 Newcomers To The Fold

ChiChi Akanegbu (Throws)
Hails from North Easton, Mass. and was a thrower on the Oliver Ames High School track and field team. She was a multiple-time Hockomock League All-Star and was named the Girls Track MVP in the 2016 outdoor season. Akanegbu had a stellar senior season where she placed in the top 5 at both the MIAA All-State Meet and New England Indoor Championship meet in the shot put. Akanegbu has personal bests of 39'6 in the shot put and 107'4 in the discus.
Bernice Boateng (Sprints)
Joins the Pride from Danielson, Conn. where she was senior captain for the indoor and outdoor track and field teams at Killingly High School. Boateng boasts personal bests of 12.94 for the 100m and 27.84 for the 200m. She placed top 5 in the Eastern Connecticut Conference (ECC) championships in the 100m her senior year. Boateng was also a three time recipient of the ECC Sportsmanship Award.
Joelle Bockus (Distance)
Hails from Wyndham, Maine where she competed in cross country and track and field for the Wyndham High Eagles. Bockus will help both on the track and in cross country for the Pride as she brings in personal bests of 2:33 for 800m and 21:42 for 5000m.
Maddie Boucias (Distance)
Distance standout from Mohawk Valley High School. The Western Massachusetts native boasts a cross country personal best of 19:18 in the 5000m. Boucias has also run 5:29 for the mile where she placed top 5 in the D2 Western Massachusetts State Championships.
Megan Bubello (Middle Distance)
Competed in cross country and track and field for Marian High School. Bubello was named the 2016 Spring Track MVP for her high school and boasts a wide range of skills with personal bests of 29.1 in the 200m and 1:54 in the 600m.
Abigail Cooke (Hurdles/Sprints)
Comes to Regis from Cardinal Spellman High School. The hurdle standout had success in both sprint and hurdle events competing for the Cardinals. Cooke has personal bests of 17.64 in the 100m Hurdles and 1:14 for the 400m Hurdles.
Elisabeth Cooke (Throws)
Joins the Regis Throws groups from East Longmeadow High School where she had a decorated career in the shot put and discus. Cooke has all time bests of 35'4 in the shot put and 109'1 in the discus. Cooke has two top 20 performances at the MIAA All State meet and was named the 2016 East Longmeadow Female Athlete of the Year.
Erin Davis (Throws)
Joins the Pride after graduating Summa Cum Laude from Tewksbury High School. The throwing specialist saw her state relays team win the Division E shot put title and was a multiple-time recipient of the Tewksbury High School Coach's Award. Davis has a personal best of 32'6 in the shot put.
Gabrielle Etienne (Throws)
Comes to Regis after having competed in the throws events at Sommerville High School. Etienne was one of the best high school throwers in Massachusetts and finished second at the MIAA All-State Meet and third at the New England Indoor Championships in the shot put. She has a personal best of 40'11 in the event.
Kyle Gillen-Hughes (Middle Distance)
Comes to Regis after having completed his freshman year at Sacred Heart University. The transfer student from Reading, Mass. looks to capitalize on his athleticism for the Pride as he was a three sport athlete in football, basketball and track & field at Lawrence Academy where he was also the recipient of the James E. Baker Prize for the best all-around development in attitude and scholarship.
Jillian Mosko (Distance)
Joins the distance squad after competing in both cross country and track and field for Woburn High School. Mosko has personal bests of 3:26 (1000m) and 2:38 (800m) on the track and has run 21:15 for 5000m in cross country.
Nicholas Sahagian (Distance)
Hails from Fort Lauderdale, Florida and graduated from Cardinal Gibbons High School. The senior captain guided his cross country team to the Florida state meet and has personal bests of 10:50 for the 3200m and 4:47 for 1600m.
Jovan Sematimba (Distance)
Ran cross country and track and field for nearby Burlington High School. Sematimba was the recipient of the MIAA Award of Excellence for Exemplary Display of Sportsmanship, Ethics & Integrity. He has personal bests of 2:05 (800m), 4:48 (mile), and 17:07 (5000m).
