WESTON, Mass -- The Regis men's volleyball team was at home tonight taking on the Bulldogs of Dean College in a crucial Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. For Dean, Travis Johnson had five kills on .444% hitting percentage.
How It Happened
Dean came out sharp, jumping to an early 4–1 lead. However, momentum quickly flipped as Regis went on a dominant run sparked by John Nangle's serving and Jalen Watt's offense, turning a 5–5 tie into a commanding 12–5 advantage. The Bulldogs struggled with consistency, committing multiple attack errors while the Pride continued to apply pressure with aces and efficient kills. Despite a brief push from Dean midway through the set, Regis stayed in control and closed comfortably, 25–14.
The second set followed a similar pattern, with the Pride taking control early. Regis rattled off a long scoring stretch fueled again by Nangle's service run, including multiple aces and forced errors that pushed the lead to 9–2. The Bulldogs showed flashes of resistance with kills, but they couldn't string together enough points to threaten. The Pride remained steady offensively, with contributions from Watt, Bonica, and Valdes, and finished the set decisively, 25–14.
Dean showed their strongest fight in the third set, opening with a run behind Armitage's serving and improved blocking from Travis Johnson and Allan. The teams traded runs throughout the set, with the Bulldogs maintaining a slight edge early. Regis responded midway, using kills from Watt and Valdes to take a late lead. Dean kept it close and even narrowed the gap to 20–19, but a late surge by the Pride, capitalizing on Bulldogs attack errors and strong blocking from Nangle and Bonica sealed the match with a 25–19 win.
