Men's Volleyball Tops Curry in Five Sets
WESTON, Mass -- The Regis men's volleyball team was back in action tonight in their home opener against the Colonels of Curry College. The Pride would get the best of Curry, taking tonight's contest in five sets, improving their record to 2-0 on the young season.
Offensively, the Pride were paced by Adam Bonita and Jalen Watt, who tallied 13 and 14 kills respectively, while Evan Shank orchestrated the attack with 48 assists. Eddie Djatcha delivered a complete performance on both ends of the court, finishing with 12 kills and 4.5 total blocks to help propel the Pride to a five-set victory.
On the other side, Michael Swanigan led all players with a game-high 17 kills, and Chris Milford contributed 15 more for the Colonels. Nyko Whitaker directed the Colonels' offense with 36 assists in the effort.
How it Happened
Regis controlled much of the opening set, building an early advantage. After a brief back-and-forth stretch early on, Regis went on a steady run to pull ahead 11–7, capitalizing on Curry attacking errors. The Pride continued to apply pressure at the service line, highlighted by service aces from Jalen Watt and Adam Bonica, extending the lead to 20–13. Curry attempted to rally late, but Regis maintained its composure, closing the set on an 8–4 run. Regis took the opening set convincingly, 25–17.
The second set was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams exchanging points early. Regis gained a small advantage in the middle thanks to solid kills and a service ace from Jalen Watt, but Curry stayed close with strong attacking. The set remained tight through the late stages, and Curry capitalized on late errors by Regis at the net to pull ahead, winning the set 25–23.
The third set was closely contested early, with both teams trading points and staying neck-and-neck through the first half. Regis gradually pulled ahead behind strong attacking from John Nangle and service plays from Vincent Betonio and Shank, building a small cushion. Curry stayed competitive with timely kills from Swanigan and Milfort, but Regis maintained control down the stretch, closing out the set 25–21.
Curry came out strong in the fourth set, taking an early lead and steadily building momentum. Regis tried to keep pace with timely attacks and service plays from Nangle and Betonio, but Curry maintained control throughout. Despite a late push from Regis, Curry closed out the set 25–22.

Despite Curry's efforts to rally, The Pride maintained consistent pressure steadily building and protecting their lead. Curry managed to stay within striking distance for a few points, but Regis closed the set 15–11, winning the match in a competitive, hard-fought five-set showdown.
