SINDONI NAMED NECC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Freshman Zach Sindoni (Haverhill, Mass.) of the Regis College men's volleyball team has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league on Monday morning.
WESTON, Mass. – Freshman Zach Sindoni (Haverhill, Mass.) of the Regis College men's volleyball team has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league on Monday morning. Sindoni helped lead the Pride to a 1-3 mark at the Johnson and Wales University Tip-Off Tournament this past weekend and was named to the All-Tournament Team for his efforts.
The first-year outside hitter recorded nine kills, 14 assists, three service aces, five digs, and four blocks in his first career match against Southern Vermont on Friday. The following match, he had four kills, 13 assists, two digs, and one block in a 3-0 setback to Lasell.
On Saturday, Sindoni registered nine kills, 18 assists, and three aces in a loss to Johnson & Wales. In the Pride's closing match of the weekend, he had ten kills, 16 assists, five digs, and two blocks to help his squad grab their first win of the season, a 3-0 victory over Keuka.
Through four matches this year, Sindoni is averaging 2.29 kills, 4.36 assists, .57 blocks, 1.0 digs, and .50 service aces per set, while maintaining a hitting percentage of .348. He and the rest of the Pride will return to action this Wednesday for a 6 p.m. non-conference match at Mount Ida.
