PRIDE PICKED SIXTH IN NECC COACHES POLL
The Regis College men’s volleyball team has been selected to finish sixth in the 2014 New England Collegiate Conference Men’s Volleyball preseason poll, it was announced on Wednesday afternoon.
WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's volleyball team has been selected to finish sixth in the 2014 New England Collegiate Conference Men's Volleyball preseason poll, it was announced on Wednesday afternoon.
The Pride return their leading kills man from a season ago in Joe Coye (Plaistow, N.H.), who led the Pride with 123 kills last season. The sophomore captain also led the team in service aces (15) as well as blocks (31), and finished third on the team with 79 digs.
Regis hopes an influx of youth will propel the Pride into the NECC for the first time this season as the team features six freshman from all over the nation in Joe Hanrahan (Coventry, R.I.), Bryan Camilo (Lawrence, Mass.), Jon Fuentes (Downey, Calif.), Zach Sindoni (Haverhill, Mass.), Manny Calderon (Bristol, Conn.) and Sean Bisnett (Oxnard, Calif.).
Defending NECC Champion Endicott College earned all seven first place votes in being chosen No. 1 in the polls. Daniel Webster earned all seven second place votes to land No. 2, followed by Elms, Southern Vermont, Newbury, Regis, and Lesley.
The Pride kick of the 2014 season on Friday afternoon when they take on Southern Vermont and Lasell as part of the Johnson & Wales Tip-Off Tournament in Providence, R.I.
