ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Regis (Mass.) men's tennis team was unanimously picked to defend its conference title, topping the New England Collegiate Conference preseason poll announced Thursday by the league office.
The Pride hopes to continue its league dominance having won the previous four NECC titles. Regis returns four of its starters from the 2016 season, which will be led by the reigning NECC Player of the Year, junior Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.). Also returning for Regis are all-NECC honorees sophomore Luke Horton (Bass Harbor, Maine) and senior Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.).
The Pride went 16-6 overall and a perfect 8-0 in NECC play during the 2015-16 campaign. Regis just lost just three games in its eight league matches on its way to defeating Becker 8-1 in the championship match. The Pride finished the fall season 3-5 with wins over UMass-Dartmouth, Johnson & Wales (RI) and Wentworth.
Regis serves up the spring season down in Orlando with five matches as part of its annual spring break trip. First up is Kings College on Monday, Mar. 6.
