PRIDE SWEEP ECAC WEEKLY AWARDS
Regis College senior Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) has been named this week's Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III North Region men's tennis Player of the Week, while teammate Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) has been named the Rookie of the Week, it was announced Thursday afternoon.
WESTON, Mass. - Regis College senior Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) has been named this week's Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III North Region men's tennis Player of the Week, while teammate Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) has been named the Rookie of the Week, it was announced Thursday afternoon.
Beluch, coming off his fourth straight New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Year award, was named the NECC Championship Tournament MVP as he helped lead the Pride to its third consecutive NECC Championship with wins at #1 Singles and #1 Doubles in consecutive 9-0 Pride sweeps of Newbury College and Becker College. In the championship match Beluch teamed with Chris Harrow for an 8-1 doubles win and took a straight set singles win with a pair of 6-1 sets. In the semi-finals against Newbury, Beluch did not allow a point to be scored against him with an 8-0 doubles victory and a 6-0, 6-0 singles win.
Harrow also received hardware as he was named the NECC Rookie of the Year. During the NECC Semifinals against Lesley, Harrow defeated Billy Baker at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and teamed up with Michael Beluch at No. 1 doubles to win the set 8-0. During the NECC Championship against Becker, Harrow dominated at No. 2 singles winning his match 6-1, 6-1 and again partnered up with Beluch for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. Harrow was also named to the NECC All-Tournament Singles team for his performance in the conference championship tourney. Harrow is the only player in the NECC to be named Rookie of the Week this season, earning the honor four times.
The Pride won their third straight NECC Championship on Sunday defeating Becker College 9-0.
