The Regis College men's tennis team swept visiting Mitchell College, 9-0, on Thursday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference action in Weston, Mass. The Pride improves to 13-6 and 6-0 in the NECC, while Mitchell falls to 4-4 and 3-3 in league matches.
WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's tennis team swept visiting Mitchell College, 9-0, on Thursday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference action in Weston, Mass. The Pride improves to 13-6 and 6-0 in the NECC, while Mitchell falls to 4-4 and 3-3 in league matches.
Regis made quick work of the Mariners in doubles play, allowing only one point across the three matchups. Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) and Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) won at No. 1 doubles, with Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.) and Austin Nace (Sarasota, Fla.) adding a win at No. 3 doubles by the matching score.
Current NECC and ECAC Player of the Week Nathan Cohen (Randolph, Mass.) and Matt Quattrociocchi (Germantown, Md.) defeated Michael Edwards (Bozrah, Conn.) and Zack Rocheleau (Winchendon, Mass.) at No. 2 doubles, 8-1.
In singles play, Beluch, Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) and Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.) all picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 1, No. 5, and No. 6 singles, respectively. Cohen and Quattrociocchi added matching 6-0, 6-1 wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, with Harrow rounding out the sweep with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles over Orson Sinclair (New London, Conn.).
Both teams are back in action Saturday as the Pride will travel to Lesley University for an 11:00 a.m. match, while Mitchell hosts Wheelock College at 12:00 p.m.
