PRIDE CRUISE TO 9-0 SWEEP OF LESLEY
The Regis College men's tennis team picked up a 9-0 sweep of Lesley University on Saturday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference action at the Natick Racquet Club. The Pride improve to 9-6 overall and 2-0 in the NECC, while Lesley falls to 0-4 and 0-2 in league matches.
WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's tennis team picked up a 9-0 sweep of Lesley University on Saturday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference action at the Natick Racquet Club. The Pride improve to 9-6 overall and 2-0 in the NECC, while Lesley falls to 0-4 and 0-2 in league matches.
The Pride dominated doubles play, posting matching 8-0 victories across all three doubles matchups. Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) and Chris Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) were victorious at No. 1 doubles, while Nathan Cohen (Randolph, Mass.) and Matt Quattrociocchi (Germantown, Md.) won at the No. 2 spot. Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.) and Jeremy Morgenbesser (Bayport, N.Y.) wrapped up doubles with a win at No. 3 doubles.
Regis continued its strong play in singles action, winning four of the six matchups by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Beluch, Cohen, Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.), and Morgenbesser won at No.'s 1, 3, 4, and 5 singles, while Chris Harrow won after Billy Baker (Sacramento, Calif.) retired. Austin Nace (Sarasota, Fla.) grabbed a 6-0, 6-1 win over James Webb (San Francisco, Calif.) at No. 6 singles.
The Crimson and Gold return to action on Tuesday when they host Wheelock College at 4:30 p.m. Lesley will take on Newbury College in an NECC match on Tuesday as well.
