WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's tennis team has announced the fall portion of its 2014 schedule, starting on September 7. The Pride are in pursuit of their third-straight New England Collegiate Conference Championship this season.
The season begins on Sunday, September 7, when the Pride hosts Salve Regina University in a 1:00 p.m. match. The Pride travel to Franklin Pierce University for a non-league matchup with the Ravens on September 12. Regis will be looking for their first-ever win against Franklin Pierce as FPU holds a 3-0 advantage over the Pride, including a 9-0 sweep last fall.
The season continues the following week when Regis hosts Gordon College on September 18 in their first home match of the year. Four days later, the Pride host Eastern Nazarene on September 22. Regis is looking for their first wins against both teams dating back to when all three teams were in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Regis has a pair of dates in October including a matchup on October 6 against Wentworth, another former CCC opponent. The Pride wrap up the fall slate of games with a doubleheader on Sunday, October 12, as Regis will take on UMass Boston in the morning, and follow that up with an afternoon match against Johnson & Wales University.
The Pride have continued to improve upon previous seasons as Regis set a new program record for wins in a season in 2013-14, going 15-5 overall and posting their second-straight season of an unblemished 10-0 mark in NECC play.
