The Regis College men's tennis team, the reigning New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Champions, have been projected to finish in first place again this season.
WESTON, Mass. - The Regis College men's tennis team, the reigning New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Champions, have been projected to finish in first place again this season. The Pride topped the annual NECC Preseason Coaches Poll after picking up 36 points and all six first place votes from the league's coaches.
The Pride welcome back four letter-winners from last year's Championship squad, including two-time NECC Player of the Year, Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.). Seniors Jeff Parrish (Framingham, Mass.) and Andy White (Bozeman, Mont.) also return for Regis after a successful 2012-13 campaign in which each were named All-NECC First Team selections.
Becker and Mitchell tied for second place in the poll with 22 points apiece, while Lesley rounds out the top four positions with 21 points. Newbury (19) and Wheelock (9) came in fifth and sixth place, respectively.
The Pride will open up the spring season with a March 3 non-conference match against John Carroll at 1:30 p.m., which will be played in Tampa, Fla.
