Men's Swim and Dive Falls Short to Blue Jays in Season Opener
WESTON, Mass. -- The Regis College men's swimming and diving team opened its 2025–26 season at home against the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.), where the Blue Jays came away with a 137–118 victory.
Gavin Olsen secured the Pride's first win of the day, taking the top spot in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:47.81 — more than a minute faster than the runner-up. Olsen also claimed victory in the 500-yard freestyle (5:38.07). Cody Werner (Bettendorf, Iowa) joined him among the top finishers, winning the 100-yard freestyle (56.12) and 50-yard butterfly (25.49). Andrew Martin earned first place in the 100-yard free (57.24), edging out the Blue Jays' second-place swimmer by just 0.14 seconds.
Regis closed out the meet on a high note, winning the 200-yard freestyle relay as Olsen, Michael Zammuto (Burlington, Mass.), Martin, and Ryan Kim (Los Angeles, Calif.) combined for a time of 1:42.60.
On the diving board, Josh Dion and Zammuto represented the Pride, with Dion earning 120.95 points and Zammuto scoring 119.30 in his first event before improving to 153.25 later in the day.
The Pride and Blue Jays will meet again on Friday, October 17, when Regis travels to Connecticut for the rematch.
