MANDIC SETS SCHOOL RECORD IN PRIDES FIRST MEET
Weston, Mass.---The Regis College men’s swimming and diving team had a record-breaking day in their season opener Saturday (Oct. 23) against Umass Dartmouth. Freshman Djordje Mandic (Portland, Maine) broke the school record in the 200-yard freestyle, winning the event with a time of (1:55.78). Mandic went on to capture a second place finish in the 50-yard freestyle and a third place finish in the 100-yard freestyle. This impressive performance was not enough for the Pride who fell to the Corsairs by the score of 181-89.

Mandic went on to capture a second place finish in the 50-yard freestyle and a third place finish in the 100-yard freestyle. This impressive performance was not enough for the Pride who fell to the Corsairs by the score of 181-89.
Leading the Pride was Mandic, who along with teammates Ben Perry (Chicopee, Mass.), Nick Yerzyk (West Hills, Calif.), and Andy Laforest (Boston, Mass.) were able to finish second in the 200 medley relay with an impressive time of (1:51.57).
The Pride continued perform well with senior captain Ben Perry earning a pair of second place finishes in both backstrokes. Yerzyk and Laforest finished third in the 100 IM with a time of (1:02.50). Freshmen Alex Caliendo (Windsor, Conn.) and Adam Millerick (Andover, Mass.) had impressive days for the Pride. Caliendo finished third in the 100 butterfly and fourth in 50 butterfly. Millerick took third in the 50 and 100 backstrokes, as well as 50 freestyle. They were also members of the second place 200 freestyle relay.
The Pride’s next matchup is against Bridgewater State Friday (Oct.29) at 6:00 pm
