MEN'S SWIMMING WON ITS SECOND STRAIGHT MEET OF THE SEASON
WESTON, Mass.—The Regis College Men’s Swimming and Diving program won its second straight meet with a victory over University of New England Saturday afternoon capturing the meet 137-93. With a quick turnaround from their Friday night win, the Pride advances to 2-1 on the season.
WESTON, Mass.—The Regis College Men’s Swimming and Diving program won its second straight meet with a victory over University of New England Saturday afternoon capturing the meet 137-93. With a quick turnaround from their Friday night win, the Pride advances to 2-1 on the season.
Sophomore Steven McGovern (Dorchester, MA) and freshman Djordje Mandic (Portland, ME) won every event they competed in. McGovern captured gold in the 200 medley and freestyle relays, and the 50 and 100 breaststrokes, while teammate Mandic posted wins in the 100 freestyle, 50 butterfly, and 200 individual medley.
Teaming with McGovern and Mandic in both relays, sophomore captain, Nick Yerzyk (West Hills, Calif.) also won the 50 backstroke and set a new school record 27.92. Sophomore captain Andy Laforest also anchored the winning medley relay and captured silver medals in both the 50 and 500 freestyles.
The Pride hopes to continue their winning streak when they host Gordon College Saturday November 6 at 1:00 p.m.
