NASHUA, NH -- The Regis men's lacrosse team took the trip up to New Hampshire tonight for a Great Northeast Athletic Coference matchup against the Raiders of Rivier University. The Pride would try their hardest but would be no match for Rivier's high powered offense. With tonight's loss the Pride's record falls to 3-3, 2-3 in GNAC play.
How It Happened
This game started out in Rivier's favor jumping out to a quick lead, despite shots from Luke Meelia and Nick Klein neither would be able to find the back of the net. the Raiders would end the first quarter up 6-0.
The second quarter would follow a similar script with Regis not being able to mount much offense besides shots as Rivier continued to extend their lead, this would change though when Jack Jaynes opened the Pride's scoring with just over three minutes left when he was assisted by Luke Meelia, breaking the Raiders shutout before heading into the break.
Rivier carried their momentum into the third and fourth quarters, continuing to control possession and dictate the pace of play. Regis struggled to generate consistent offense but got a brief spark from Alex Dougenik, who forced a turnover and converted it into a goal. In the fourth quarter, the Pride showed some fight with a goal from Nick Klein and a few extra-man opportunities, but the deficiet would be too big to overcome.
