Class of 2021 Spotlight - Men's Lacrosse
WESTON, Mass. - Five student-athletes from the Regis College men's lacrosse program recently graduated as part of the Class of 2021. These five young men made a significant impact on the program as it continued its growth within the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
Logan Bateman (Claremont, N.H.) played in 29 games during his collegiate career, starting all of them. He picked up 121 career groundballs, seventh in program history, and caused 36 career turnovers, fourth all-time at Regis. He has been a three-time captain of the team, setting the example in every aspect of the program. Logan has worked hard for his academic success, picking up Academic All-GNAC and Regis College Academic Excellence honors along the way. He took part in service trips with the Center for Ministry and Service and was recognized as a Pillar of the Community in 2020. The impact he has made to the lacrosse program cannot be overstated. Logan received his bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering and is planning to attend medical school.
Michael Daras (Danvers, Mass.) played in 27 games in his Regis career, scoring 39 goals and adding 28 assists. His dependable performance made him a critical part of the team, as they often looked to him to provide an offensive spark. Mike is a true competitor, not the loud show-off type, rather the tactful hard-working type who lets his play speak for itself. Mike has also been a tremendous leader on the team, always taking time to help out the younger players. He earned Academic All-GNAC honors as well as being recognized as a Pillar of the Regis Community in 2020. Graduating with a bachelor's degree in psychology, Mike will pursue PA school in the future.
Brendon Donahue (Lynn, Mass.) played in 29 games in his career, starting 27 of them. He racked up three goals, 88 groundballs, 13 caused turnovers, and 167 faceoff wins, fourth-most in program history. Brendon played every single position on the field for the team – including goalie where he made 10 saves in a victory over Mitchell in 2019. On March 4, 2020, he went 15-for-17 on face-offs against Thomas, collecting 16 ground balls. He is the ultimate "team first" player, and he has set an incredible example for his teammates as a captain. He has also been recognized for his academic success, earning Academic All-GNAC honors two times so far. Graduating with a humanities degree, he was recently accepted into law school.
Rocco Geary (Salem, Mass.) played in 16 games in his career, scoring two goals and adding an assist. He won 82 faceoff attempts, sixth-most in program history, and scooped up 35 groundballs. Rocco's impact on the team stretched far beyond the field of play. He was a leader in the weight room, setting the example for the extra effort needed to be a successful athlete. Along the way, he overcame multiple injuries, demonstrating his toughness. Rocco was a relentless supporter of his teammates, often going out of his way to be there for his fellow student-athletes. Earning his bachelor's degree in communications, he plans to attend graduate school.
JJ LaRose (Litchfield, N.H.) played in 21 games, starting 16 in the cage. His career goals against average is 13.34, and his 162 career saves are third on the Regis all-time list. The effect that JJ had on the team, however, is far more important than statistics. He was a consistent voice in the defensive end and a calming presence to the entire team. Returning from what could have been a career-ending injury, JJ's work ethic and determination was unmatched. Beyond the athletic field, he earned Academic All-GNAC recognition twice. JJ graduated with his bachelor's degree in criminal justice with a minor in cybersecurity and is looking forward to a career in law enforcement.
