Harvey and Brynda Represent Men's Basketball in GNAC Postseason Awards
WESTON, Mass. — Seniors Jamir Harvey and Gehrig Brynda have earned postseason recognition from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), representing Regis Men's Basketball. Harvey received third-team honors, while Brynda was named the Pride's representative on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Harvey led the Pride this season in scoring, rebounding, and blocks, finishing with 366 points, 159 rebounds, and 18 blocks. The senior enjoyed a career-best season, setting personal records in points, three-pointers made, rebounds, and assists (38). He was a consistent presence, starting all 26 games, opening the season with nine straight double-figure outings, and scoring in double figures in 22 contests, including five 20-plus point performances. One of his standout games came in an out-of-region matchup where he posted a 24-point (10-of-19 FG), 12-rebound double-double. Late in the season, Harvey's back-to-back 20-point performances against New England College and Colby-Sawyer proved decisive, helping the Pride secure the sixth seed in the GNAC tournament.
In the Pride's GNAC opener, Harvey scored 22 points against Albertus Magnus to surpass the 1,000 career point milestone. He finished his career with 1,174 points, ranking fifth all-time in program history, and also finished fifth all-time in career blocks.
Brynda, meanwhile, has been considered the heart and soul of the team by the coaching staff. Known for his three-point shooting - 125 career makes, seventh all-time - he led the team with energy and enthusiasm despite battling injuries. Off the court, Brynda maintains a 3.28 GPA with multiple appearances on the Dean's List and earned a spot on the NABC Honors Court last year. He also contributes to the basketball community as an AAU coach for NE Elite and a skill/development trainer, exemplifying what it means to be a member of Regis men's basketball and the larger community.
This recognition marks Harvey's first All-GNAC nod since being named to the GNAC All-Rookie Team as a freshman, while it is Brynda's first postseason honor.
