Men's Basketball Outmatched By Monks
WESTON, Mass -- Men's Basketball was home tonight in a crucial Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup against the visiting Monk's of St.Joe's Maine, The Pride's defense would be no match for St.Joes high powered offense, losing tonight's contest 70-95. With the loss, the Pride's record falls to 13-11, and 4-7 in GNAC play.
Devon Reid would be a light in tonight's loss providing 15 points off the bench, as well as Tyrone Chinn who added 10 points and seven rebounds aswell.
The Monks would be led by Remijo Wani who's 23 points and 18 rebounds would prove to be the deciding factor.
How It Happened
In the first half, Saint Joe's came out hot, opening with a three and quickly building momentum behind strong outside shooting and second-chance opportunities. Wani was a key factor early, scoring, rebounding, and facilitating as the Monks stretched the lead to double digits. Regis struggled with turnovers and missed shots, while Saint Joseph's capitalized with dunks, kick-out threes, and free throws. A late flurry of three-pointers pushed the advantage to 48–26 at halftime.
In the second half, Regis showed some fight early with layups from Harvey and Herbin, trimming the deficit slightly, but Saint Joseph's quickly answered. Mann, Wani, and Donato continued to score efficiently, and the Monks extended the lead past 20 with balanced scoring and strong interior defense, including several blocks. Though Regis got contributions from Chinn, Reid, and Fitzpatrick, Saint Joseph's maintained control with timely threes and steady free-throw shooting. With both teams going to their benches late, the Monks closed out a dominant 95–70 victory.
