Pride Battle Division I Holy Cross in Road Exhibition
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Regis College men's basketball team traveled to Worcester on Tuesday night for an exhibition matchup against Division I Holy Cross, where the Crusaders defeated the Pride, 69-47. Exhibition contests do not impact the Pride's season record, and individual statistics are not counted toward yearly or career totals.
Aamyr Sullivan led the Pride with 13 points, four assists, and five rebounds, while Rob Elliott added a team-high 15 points in the exhibition.
Holy Cross featured three players in double figures, led by Gabe Warren, who posted a game-high 16 points along with six rebounds.
How it Happened
The Pride opened the game with confidence. After Holy Cross scored the opening basket, Regis responded with 13 straight points, including four apiece from Rob Elliott and Gehrig Brynda. The Crusaders finally snapped their nine-minute scoring drought with a layup, sparking momentum that carried into the half as they closed the frame on a 24-2 run to take a 26-15 advantage at the break.
Elliott opened the second half with a three-pointer to trim the deficit back to single digits, but the Crusaders responded with eight unanswered points to reestablish a double-digit lead. With just under 13 minutes remaining, Raymond Johnson scored back-to-back baskets to make it an eight-point game at 38-30, before Holy Cross converted its next three field goals to push the margin to 16. Sullivan continued to attack for the Pride, scoring seven of their next nine points to bring the deficit back to 10, before first-year Anthony Lambdin made it an eight-point game with just over six minutes remaining. However, that was as close as the Pride would get, as the Crusaders closed the game on an 18-4 run to secure the 69-47 victory.
Inside the Numbers
- Tonight's exhibition marked the third meeting between Regis and Holy Cross, and the result stands as the closest margin of victory in the series.
- The 69 points allowed marks the lowest total the Pride has held the Division I opponent to since the series began in 2021.
