Men's Basketball Takes Care Of JWU On The Road, 79-60
WESTON, Mass-- The Pride men's basketball team was back on the road tonight facing former Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foe Johnson & Wales (RI) in another non-conference matchup. The Pride would jump out to an early lead and not look back, taking this one 79-60. Tonight's win would improve their record to 6-3 on the year.
The Pride's top performer would be Aamyr Sullivan (Middletown, NY) flooded the stat sheet with 25 points (8-12 fg), nine rebounds, and four assists, while Ned Fitzpatrick (Providence, R.I.) chipped in 14 points (6-12 fg) off the bench. Jamir Harvey (Robbins, Ill.) rounded out the scoring with 13 points in the victory.
For the Wildcats, Azariah Harrison would lead the way for them, scoring 20.
How it Happened
Regis opened up this one with steady defensive pressure, building a lead as the first half progressed. Jamir Harvey would be crucial once again making his presence known early. Ned Fitzpatrick would provide another spark off the bench as well, pulling up for two with just over 10 minutes left in the first. Later in the half the Pride would extend their lead, taking a 40-26 advantage into the break.
Coming out of the break Sullivan would make his present felt, shooting lights out from the line. Johnson & Wales saw flashes from Alvin Baez and Harrison, who continued to score from deep and on pull-ups, but the Wildcats struggled to overcome turnovers and long stretches without a made field goal. Regis protected the paint and answered any JWU run. In the closing minutes, the Pride slowed the game down, sealing a convincing victory with efficient scoring, 79-60.
