How it Happend
Regis opened up tonight's game striking first with a three-pointer by Gehrig Brynda (Deerfield, Mass.), the Pride controlled early tempo, forcing stops and getting multiple second-chance looks. The Bears struggled to finish around the rim in the opening minutes, but offensive rebounding led by Samuel Omisore and Dante Kikuba kept them in striking distance. Regis responded with strong bench production led by Jakhai Veal (Farmington, Conn.) and Tyrone Chinn (Derry, NH.). The Bears continued to capitalize on Regis miscues, putting together a 9–0 stretch. The Pride pulled back within three but Bridgewater had the final push taking a 31-28 lead into half.
The Pride opened the second half with great defense, keeping the Bears off the board for nearly two full minutes. From there, the pace picked up. Bridgewater briefly regained the lead on a Tzar Powell-Aparicio finish, but Regis answered immediately with baskets from Rob Elliott and Harvey, both assisted by the playmaking of Aamyr Sullivan, prompting a Bridgewater timeout. At the midpoint of the half, both teams traded blows from beyond the arc. From there Regis clamped down on defense, limiting Bridgewater to one-shot possessions. Regis finished the second frame dominantly, outscoring Bridgewater 37–27, to take this one 65-58.
