REGIS MEN TABBED 5TH IN PRESEASON POLLS
In a vote conducted by the league’s head coaches, the Regis College men’s basketball team has been selected to finish fifth in the New England Collegiate Conference Coaches Poll announced on Thursday morning. The Pride received one first place vote.
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – In a vote conducted by the league's head coaches, the Regis College men's basketball team has been selected to finish fifth in the New England Collegiate Conference Coaches Poll announced on Thursday morning. The Pride received one first place vote.
The Pride are coming off an 11-15 season last year, including a 9-7 mark in NECC games. Regis earned the No. 5 seed in the NECC Tournament and advanced to their third-straight NECC Semifinal game.
Defending NECC Champion Mitchell College earned four first place votes and 67 points to finish on top of the preseason poll. Right behind them is Elms College, who garnered three first place votes. Southern Vermont grabbed the final first place vote and finished third in the polls, with Becker (48 points) and Regis (42 points) rounding out the top five.
Daniel Webster was selected to finish sixth, with Newbury, Lesley, and Wheelock, picked seventh, eighth, and ninth, respectively.
Regis kicks off its 2014-15 campaign on Saturday night when they travel to Emmanuel College for the Boston Small School Shootout, taking on the host Saints at 5:30 p.m.
