REGIS MEN'S BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES 2014-15 SCHEDULE
The Regis College men’s basketball team is proud to announce its 2014-15 slate of games. The schedule features three tournaments, as well as 12 home games and 11 road contests.
WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College men's basketball team is proud to announce its 2014-15 slate of games. The schedule features three tournaments, as well as 12 home games and 11 road contests.
Regis is coming off its third-straight New England Collegiate Conference Semifinals appearance, including a showing in the NECC Championship game two seasons ago. The Pride went 11-15 last season, winning five-straight games from January 18-30.
The Pride open up the season by traveling into Boston for the Boston Small College Shootout hosted by Emmanuel College on Saturday November 15th and Sunday November 16. The Pride will face the host Saints at 5:00 p.m. on the 15th and then will face either Emerson or Wentworth in either the Championship or Consolation Game on Sunday at 5:30 or 7:30 p.m.
The following Tuesday, Regis will open up their home schedule and look to avenge last season's loss to Tufts University. The Pride and Jumbos have split the four games they have played since 2010, with Regis' last win coming in double-overtime back in 2011.
Regis then hosts the Moe's Queso Classic at Regis College on November 21 and 22. Regis welcomes Thomas, Framingham State and the Coast Guard Academy to Weston for the tournament. The Pride will play the tournament-opener against Thomas at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while Framingham St. and Coast Guard Academy square off in the second game at 7:00 p.m. The winners of each game will meet in the Championship at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Consolation Game will take place at 2:00 p.m.
Regis will wrap up the month of November by traveling to Quincy, Mass. to square off against former CCC foe Eastern Nazarene in a non-league bout with tip-off set for 6:00 p.m.
The Pride open the month of December and the conference slate of games when they host Southern Vermont on December 4 at 8:00 p.m. Regis went 9-7 in regular season conference play last year. Two days later, The Pride will travel to Nashua, N.H. to square off against conference foe Daniel Webster with tip-off set for 1:00 p.m.
After a month break, Regis will open January by taking part in the Naismith Classic in Springfield, Mass. The Pride face-off against host Springfield College on Friday January 2 at 5:30 p.m. The Crimson & Gold will hope to face the winner of Clarkson and Cazenovia in the Championship Game at 5:00 p.m. the next day.
The final non-conference game of the season will take place in Weston, Mass. on January 6 against Westfield State. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
On January 10, Regis returns to conference play when the Pride hosts Newbury at 3:00 p.m. The Crimson and Gold then travel to Becker on January 15 (8:00 p.m.) before returning to Weston to host the next two matchups against Elms on January 17 (3:00 p.m.) and Mitchell on January 20. The Pride will look to avenge their NECC Semifinals overtime loss to Elms and look to rebound after close losses to Mitchell last season.
Two days later, the Pride head out on a two game conference road trip as they travel to Southern Vermont on January 24 for their second matchup with the Mountaineers with tip-off set for 4:00 p.m. Three days later, Regis heads back to Massachusetts as they travel to Boston to take on Lesley on January 27.
The Pride then enjoy three consecutive home games on Higgins Court. Regis ends the month of January with games against Wheelock on January 29 and their second matchup with Daniel Webster on the 31st. The Crimson & Gold open up the month of February with their second meeting against Becker on February 3 at 7:00 p.m.
On February 5, the men travel to Mitchell for a 7:30 contest with the Mariners and two days later on February 7 head back to Massachusetts for a contest against Newbury at 2:00 p.m.
The Pride then take a week hiatus before traveling to Chicopee, Mass for their second date with the Blazers on Valentine's Day. Regis then heads back home to Weston on February 17 to host Lesley for their second matchup of the season with game time set for 7:00 p.m., and wrap up the regular season with a February 19 game at Wheelock.
The NECC playoffs kick off with the First Round on February 24, with the Semifinals and Championship taking place at the highest seed on the 27th and 28th.
