Field Hockey Tops Elms on Senior Night, 2-0
WESTON, Mass. -- The Regis College field hockey team was back at home this Wednesday, October 15th, to take on the Blazers of Elms College. The Pride would honor their seniors prior to the game, celebrating them with a 2-0 win.
Ava Costello (North Easton, Mass.) would score and have an assist in today's celebration with Mackenzie O'Shea (Sharon, Mass.) adding one of her own. In net, Sarai Velez (Everett, Mass.) secured the win.
How it Happened
The game would begin with an early goal from the Pride's Costello, who danced around a few defenders and scored unassisted just two minutes into the first period. Costello's performance would set the tone, not only opening the scoring but also contributing an assist later in the match. Despite Elms's efforts, they were unable to respond, and the first half ended with Regis leading 1-0.
In the third period, Regis extended their lead when Mackenzie O'Shea found the back of the net three minutes in, assisted by Costello. This goal solidified Regis's control over the game, as they maintained their defensive stance, preventing Elms from mounting any significant offensive threat. Senior Akshita Duvvuri (Manchester, N.H.) would add a handful of chances to the Pride's offense in the 4th quarter but unluckily wouldn't be able to find the back of the net.
