FRANKLIN, Mass. - The Regis field hockey team was back in action this weekend, taking on Dean College in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup, where the Bulldogs' offense powered them to the 8-0 shutout over the Pride.
How it Happend
Goalkeeper Allayna Martone (Elkridge, Md.) turned in a strong performance for the Pride despite the result, tallying 14 saves while facing relentless pressure from the Bulldogs' attack. Regis also generated several offensive chances, highlighted by shots from Anna Miele-DeFelice (Framingham, Mass.), Gabrielle Tolman (Rockland, Maine), Ava Costello (North Easton, Mass.), and Hailey Ducharme (Millville, Mass.), but Dean goalkeeper Sara Gardner stopped all attempts to earn the shutout.
Dean struck first midway through the opening quarter when Alexyss Baird capitalized on a feed from Emily Kilpatrick. The Bulldogs continued to control possession and added three more goals in the second period to take a 4–0 lead into halftime.
Regis opened the third quarter with renewed energy, earning a pair of penalty corners and testing Gardner in net, but Dean extended its advantage behind tallies from Sydnee Ramos and Emily Yazzetti, who combined for five goals and four assists on the afternoon. Kilpatrick added her second goal early in the fourth before Ramos completed the scoring in the final minute.
