WESTON, Mass. – Regis College senior captain Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass.) highlighted four selections to the New England Collegiate Conference All-Conference Teams that were announced on Monday afternoon. The Pride (8-11) were also awarded the NECC Team Sportsmanship award after going 5-1 in conference play and making it all the way to the NECC Championship match this past Saturday. Regis suffered a heart-breaking defeat, falling to Anna Maria College in overtime, 3-2.
Stacy Burns was named to her second-straight All-Conference Team after being named an Honorable Mention selection in 2012. This year, the senior finished tied for the team-lead in points with 14 while scoring three goals and finishing third in the NECC in assists with eight helpers on the year. Burns was also named to the 2013 All-Tournament Team, her second selection in three years, after being named the NECC Tournament MVP in 2011. She wraps up her career with nine goals, 13 assists, and 31 points in her four seasons with the Pride.
Senior classmate Kym Kerr was named to her third-straight All-NECC Team that included Honorable Mention nods in both 2011 and 2012. Kerr led the Pride with five defensive saves in 2013 and tied for fourth in that category in the NECC. She helped backstop a Pride defense that allowed only two goals in NECC play in 2013, which led the conference. Kerr was also named to the 2013 All-Tournament Team.
The Pride's Sashae Walls grabbed her first All-NECC selection this year after finishing the season with three goals and two assists for eight points. Walls tallied the first goal of the NECC Championship match against the AMCATS and also assisted on the game-winning-goal in the regular season finale that earned the Pride the No. 2 seed in the NECC Tournament. The junior's 34 career points through three seasons ranks her eighth all-time in Regis field hockey history.
