ROCHE SCORES FOR PRIDE IN 3-1 LOSS

Weston, Mass.---The Regis College field hockey team was defeated by Salve Regina University Wednesday (Oct. 6) by the score of 3-1.  The Pride moves to 4-8 overall on the season and 1-3 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Seahawks move to 2-10 overall on the season and 1-4 in TCCC play.

The Seahawks were able to get on the scoreboard first when Lisa Bucci (Irvington, N.Y. /Irvington) was able to put a shot past the Pride's defense. The goal put the Seahawks up by one, but they did not hold this lead long. The Pride's Caroline Roche (Hanover, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) was able to convert a rebound pass from Candace Ferry (Malden, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) and evened the score 1-1. Both teams continued to play aggressive defense and entered halftime tied for the lead.

In the second period the Pride were led by freshman goalkeeper Morgan Mitchell (Ashburnham, Mass. /Oakmont Regional) who  tallied 14 saves on the game. For the Seahawks, Lisa Bucci was able to convert another shot in front of the net for a goal.  This put the Seahawks up 2-1.  The Pride continued to press the ball in the Seahawks offensive zone. Freshman Christine O'Toole (Wareham, Mass. /Wareham) was able to rifle off a few quick shots on net, but the Seahawks Helen Bohenberger (East Falmouth, Mass. / Falmouth) was able to make the save. The Seahawks made one more offensive attack towards the end of the game with Sarah Bambury (Fairport, N.Y. / Fairport) scoring the game's final goal.

The Pride is set to play the University of New England Saturday (Oct. 9) at 1:00 pm.

The Seahawks next matchup is against Saint Joe's on (Oct. 11) at 3:00 pm
